The Shaker Heights Youth Center provides prevention services that promote the health and safety of individuals and the Shaker Community. The Center focuses on reducing the likelihood or delaying the onset of the health problems of substance abuse, mental illness, suicide and problem gambling. Prevention services are a planned sequence of culturally relevant, evidence-based strategies, a proactive process involving a continuum of resiliency building and intervention services which empowers individuals, families and communities to meet the challenges of life events and transitions by creating and reinforcing conditions that impact physical, social, emotional, spiritual and cognitive health and well-being and promote safe and healthy behaviors and lifestyles.
